As Resort runway shows wind down, "brights", "prints", "minimalist" could sum up the focus for Resort 2011. Yep, I said 2011! Resort wear (aka: Cruise) is mainly for going on holiday or vacation, and it usually ships in Dec/Jan. For those of you who are not familiar with the fashion industry, you may find this interesting. The merchandise you see displayed beautifully in boutiques and department stores, were in fact purchased by fashion buyers about half year in advance. I guess the overused industry phrase "I needed this done YESTERDAY" isn't so melodramatic after all?!
Here is a sneak peak to my favorite collections.
Bottega Venetta, and Celine - less is more Minimalist
Burberry Prorsum, Helmut Lang, Giambattista Valli, and Marc Jacobs -
Proenza Schouler, and Zero + Maria Cornejo striking prints/graphics
Erdem, and Versace fun, but functional brights
J. Mendel - in my opinion, the king of evening wear- classic with a twist. To die for!
