As warned, I gave you a little bit of time (hey, a day counts) before jumping into S/S 2013 trends. New York Fashion Week (started 9.6) is ending this Thursday, Sept 13. After reviewing approximately 80 collections, I walked away with only three very distinctive trends thus far.
Each designer had their signature look, but color-blocking and the jumper trends are still lingering, while laser cutouts/splices are emerging quite precisely deconstructive and sexy. With bold colors dominating the last couple of seasons, it is refreshing to see a more toned down color palette. White, blue, and black with a pop of color like red, olive green and orange lead the way. Prints (more subdued) continue to be strong, while patterned or disc shaped lace add interest to a garment such as the Thakoon outfit here.
I'm trying to limit to one post per fashion capital, surely there may be oversights. If you find something fun and interesting to share, feel free to leave a comment!
