Color-block goods are not to be confused with color-block dressing.  The first is multiple blocks/panels of colors on a single item where is the latter is mixing different color tops, bottoms or accessories to create a color-block outfit.  See DVF peplum top vs. peplum top + skirt.  Either way, it can be very slimming and flattering.  Think of white bikini tops to its dark color bikini bottoms where you can enhance your assets while in the same token, minimize problematic areas.  The same rule applies here, if the color panels are thoughtfully designed.  Another reason I love this trend is because it adds playfulness to any outfit.
