When I think of leather jackets, I can't help but think of motorcycle enthusiasts and babes with attitude.  Of course, in a cool femme fatale sort of way... well, that's what leather usually connotes- ruggedness.  Perforated leather on the other hand can be quite feminine, breathable, and light weight.  For these reasons, it is temperature-friendly year round, as well as, functional for tops, skirts, accessories and more.

Perforated leather is distinguished by the tiny holes placed at regular intervals which add pattern and texture to the leather.  It was mainly used as upholstery for luxury car seats or steering wheels.  Clothing and accessory designers used it as accent details on outerwear and handbags.  For example, a leather jacket with perforated yoke or sleeves or a tote bag with perforated pockets, but hardly will you see the entire jacket or bag in perforated leather.  It was only in the last few seasons, and with the help of innovative laser-cut techniques that designers are fully embracing perforated patterned leather, making it one of the season's hottest trends.  I for one think its sophistication, practicality, and easy manipulation (add instant interest) will eventually make this trend a classic.
