Since the birth of my son, I've had the flexibility of taking one week day off to be devoted to him every week.  On these off days, we're able to connect with other moms/kids through mommy-and-me classes, team sports and play dates.  So as a working mom but someone who can also relate well to stay-at-home moms, I understand that unless you're on vacation; long weekends can be challenging in keeping our little ones entertained all day.  Parks, indoor playgrounds, beaches and zoos are fail-proof, but have you thought about less common activities?  I bet every city has a few long-standing establishments or traditions similar to this.  Here in the PNW, we are lucky to have an abundance of kid-friendly local venues.  Check them out if you're local and looking for fun ideas:

{Museum of Flight}Educational and exciting for curious little minds.  For Memorial weekend, they have aircraft fly-ins featuring the EAA "Aluminum Overcast" and Cascade War birds.  There will also be a Memorial Day ceremony - Monday at noon.  Active & Retired military free!  For hours, direction, and admission, click here.

{The Children's Museum}Their mission is to ignite curiosity and encourage children to become active, life-long learners.  You can throw your child's next birthday party and really bring to life the joy of discovery for his/her friends and their families through fun, creative, hands-on exploration of the world around them.  See admission/hours.

{Stone Garden} - For the energizer bunnies, this rock climbing gym offers 21,000+ square feet of climbing terrain, 40 ft. walls, amazing kids area (a pirate ship, catwalk, a tube slide), birthday parties, and summer camp.

{3rd Annual Chateau Stay-Cation} - Grab a blanket and head to this fun event for all.  Adults get to have adult beverages (wink!), kids get to run wild on the well-manicured open lawn, and everyone gets to taste Seattle area's hottest food trucks.  Last but not least, both adults/kids can drool over some of the most rare and collectable exotic automobiles in one location.
Chateau Ste. Michelle, Sunday 5/26 @ 12-4 pm, free admission.

Enjoy yourselves!  Happy Memorial Day.
