Right now is the best time to purchase those special pieces that you've been eyeing, but perhaps were intimidated by the hefty price tags.  Here are my top five picks and the reasons why you cannot go wrong with buying them at any end of season sales:

  1. Outerwear- Pick timeless silhouettes and neutral colors, and these investment pieces will be worth every penny in the long run.
  2. Knitwear- Light weight sweaters or open cardigans are perfect transitional pieces for the in-between fall weather.
  3. LCD- Little classic dresses are much more interesting.  Little black dresses are overrated and in my opinion pretty boring.
  4. Designer handbag.  Well-made functional handbags go a long way.  They're especially worthwhile when you didn't pay the full prices for their value.
  5. Designer footwear.  Shoes or boots that can transition into the upcoming season seamlessly.  Pick stylish styles in neutral colors to stay on-trend.  Pretend you are frugal aunt Dorothy, who buys Christmas ornaments at the Christmas sale--for next year!  Same idea here, except it is only 2 months away before you'll actually use them.

I must point out the downfall of shopping at the end of the season though.  The inventory is low and sizes are limited, but if you are a bargain hunter then you'll know how to hunt. Hint: use the brand names and product descriptions in your search.  And if you can't find it no matter how hard you try, please don't yelp any retailer for not stocking your size!  It is end-of-season, remember?  Happy hunting!
