Queen of laid-back elegance, Barbara Bui designs are a mix of rock energy and ultra-feminine sensitivity. Her signature looks of long line and sensual silhouettes, incisive cuts with luxurious silks combined with fur, leather and embroideries offer a unique viewpoint in the world of luxury.
Barbara Bui is one of those naturally talented, equal parts creative and business minded designers. She obtained a literary degree, but went straight into fashion. In 1987, she showed her collection to much praise by the press and buyers. She also opened an eponymous boutique the same year, in an era when that was still rare in the fashion world. Eleven years later in 1998, Bui went public. The company is growing slow but steady, currently at about 17 stores worldwide.
Drawing inspiration from her mixed Asian and Western (Vietnamese/French) origin, her designs express duality, and tend to blend masculinity with feminine touches. Her first creations were limited editions with a focus in leather and suede. Over the years, her product categories have expanded to include shoes, bags, and accessories. Despite the line's continued success, one thing remains constant, the brand takes great pride over the quality, cut, and finishing touches for every collection.
