I love blogging about my favorite products, services, and sharing my fashion insider's tips.  I love it even more when readers appreciate it, and designers notice TET.  As much as I want to feature all designers, I have to remain selective in order to keep the integrity of my blog.  Maslinda Designs is a boho chic jewelry line that I'm proud to bring to your attention.

Created by Greek designer Fani Vogiatzi, Maslinda Designs is a brand of handmade jewelry and accessories.  With a background in French and Theater studies, Fani draws inspiration from myths and tales of different cultures, her Greek heritage and the glorious nature of the Aegean island of Amorgos.  The materials she chooses to create her collections are varied and unusual, ranging from leather, to rope to semi- precious stones. Combined in a unique way, the elements of her creations form eclectic and bold yet versatile and totally wearable keepsakes.  At a price range of $15 - $75, these will make great gifts this holiday season!  Since its inception in 2009, Maslinda Designs are mostly sold through its own e-commerce site and an etsy shop.  A true mom & pop success, the personal attention to detail is reflected in each piece of jewelry.  How did Fani turned a passion into a business?  Here's what I've learned straight from the source.

Q:  How did you become a designer?
A:  I guess the reason l started was that, like many designers, l could not find certain jewelry and bags l had in mind so l decided to make them myself, and after a while this turned from hobby to business.

Q:  Describe your design aesthetics in 3 words?
A:  Eclectic, bohemian, wearable.

Q:  Who is the ideal customer you design for?
A:  A woman who appreciates individuality and is not afraid to stand out. Oh, and who likes to have fun, to play with her looks.

Q:  What do you love the most about your job?
A:  The best thing of my job is that there are no typical days. I try to stay focused and result oriented rather than follow a rigid program just because its “right”. That said l try to have some sort of boundary between work and personal life, something that can be difficult when working from a home studio.

Q:  What one piece of advice would you give to someone wanting to start their own line?
A:  Believe in yourself and do the best you can every day but don't get obsessed with trying to get everything perfect from the start since this can be quite paralyzing.  Also, don't try to be all things to all people, take time to find your audience.

Q:  What is your biggest guilty pleasure in life?
A:  Cozying up with some red wine and watching re runs of “Friends”.  And afternoon naps.

Fani shares her time between the remote Aegean island of Amorgos, the busy city of Athens and her travels around the world.  Travel tends to spark inspirations, and Fani is indubitably aware of it!
