More than 70 collections were sent down the runways during New York Fashion Week last week. There were many beautiful pieces, but the one cohesive, commercial yet adventurous collection that really stood out in the crowd for me was a 3 year old label, called Nonoo.  An appreciation for quality, tailoring, and worldly travel is the essence, the integrity, and core of the Nonoo label and of Misha Nonoo herself.

Don't hate her because she is beautiful, successful, and married to Alexander Gilkes. After all, she did not strike success by dumb luck--her business plan for Nonoo was well conceived while still in business school. Nonoo is all about tailored and elegant clothing that exudes effortless style, and for Fall/Winter 2014, it captured just that.  In an average-sized collection for young designers, all 22 pieces were amazingly cohesive to merchandise, yet each individual piece packed a punch.  The cream, black, teal, and vibrant blue color scheme was beautiful!  And, from her signature sheer panels, digital prints, and transparency using splicing techniques, you can see her brave experimentation in textures and shapes.  The sophistication of this collection was well beyond her 20-something youth.

Since its debut, the label has cultivated a loyal following that include celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Sarah Jessica Parker.  It is stocked at prestigious retailers such as Bergdorf Goodman and Harvey Nichols. Nonoo was also selected as a finalist for the esteemed 2013 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award.  Adding to my 'Future Power Fashion House' list,  I'll be keeping my eye on Nonoo.
